Nicole Anne Spahn grew up in the rural Midwest. While receiving a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she became entranced with the symbolism used in art. Over the last several years she has become concerned with the safety of the food in markets due to the prevalence of pesticides and genetically modified crops. As a consumer she experiences anxiety when considering the damaging consequences in selecting certain grocery products. Drawing upon historical references she portrays the deadly results of eating items purchased in a typical trip to the store. Her art has been exhibited in the United States as well as internationally.
